God of War Team Comments on PlayStation 4 and PS3 - Nick's Gaming View Episode #143

God of War’s development team comments on PlayStation 4 and the life of PlayStation 3, Epic Games loses another company leader, and EA confirms release of Dead Space 3 DLC despite poor sales, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Sony Santa Monica, the development studio behind God of War: Ascension, has released a few statements regarding Sony’s PlayStation 4 and the life of PlayStation 3. Agreeing with the many other developers to comment by stating the PS4 is a powerful machine with impressive specs, Mark Simon, God of War: Ascension’s lead game designer, also stated “I think that the promise of that machine, in terms of what it can deliver, being more engineered towards everyone being connected together, is an extremely important concept.” While the PlayStation 4 is set to release this holiday season, Jason McDonald, lead combat designer for God of War: Ascension, backed the current PlayStation with “I’ve no doubt the games coming in the future will show that there’s still life in the PS3.” Noting the upcoming releases slated for PS3, including The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls. I certainly cannot disagree with Jason here as this year is shaping up to be one of the best for the PlayStation 3, so if you don’t anticipate adopting the PlayStation 4 so soon after launch, don’t fear, the PS3 has a plethora of software titles to enjoy until the time comes.

With Unreal Engine 4 being the most talked about game engine for the next generation consoles, you wouldn’t expect to hear negative publicity regarding the company anytime soon, but Epic Games has officially lost their President, Mike Capps. Less than six months after losing the man behind the Gears of War franchise, Cliff Bleszinski, Mike Capps formally announced on Twitter the following “So, yes, I’m no longer affiliated with Epic. I have many wonderful memories, and wish my friends the best in their future projects.” While no exact details regarding his departure were released up to this point, I find it a bit odd that Epic has lost their two largest figures before the release of their upcoming hit, Gears of War: Judgment.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Electronic Arts has revealed Dead Space 3’s first DLC expansion titled ‘Awakened’ will be releasing on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on March 12th for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points. Providing the real epilogue to some of the events that take place within the game, it’s nice to see EA support the title after launch despite its poor sales, but then again, I wouldn’t doubt the DLC was nearly finished before the game released in the first place.
