Before Okami, before Bayonetta and before The Wonderful 101, the team at Platinum Games was known as Clover Studio. They were an internal team at Capcom with one responsibility—to come up with creative new IP. And the first one they made was Viewtiful Joe. Mission accomplished! Released a year later, this sequel continues where the original left off. Viewtiful Joe 2 is a side-scrolling action platformer starring a bizarre superhero and his bizarre girlfriend in a bizarre story about a Black Emperor and something called the Rainbow Oscars. Hey, no one said Clover/Platinum made conventional games. Viewtiful Joe 2 is built on a complex combat system based on both counterattacks and the manipulation of time. Joe can speed and slow the clock at will, which has different effects on his environment. And his enemies. Viewtiful Joe 2 is a gorgeous game with a bold style and truly unique gameplay.
