Spider-Man 2 review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Spider-Man 2 for the Nintendo GameCube developed by Treyarch and published by Activision.

Let fly the webbing and swing through New York in Spider-Man 2, one of the most enormous games ever released for the GameCube. Based on the 2004 film, Spider-Man 2 sets players loose in an absolutely massive version of New York City. For its time, this game was actually an impressive technical feat. There weren’t many games with a game world as truly huge as Spider-Man 2’s, and swinging from skyscraper to skyscraper with total freedom is the game’s defining feature. Of course, there are also missions and a story to progress. Spider-Man can stop petty thefts and minor crimes all over the city, earning hero points to continue the main missions. The game’s beat ‘em up gameplay is similar to the prior Spider-Man game, but more refined and with more enjoyable mechanics. Progress can be repetitive, but when it comes to free-roaming, building-scaling, web-crawling gameplay, few games can match Spider-Man 2.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Spider-Man 2 for the Nintendo GameCube and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
